Welcome to my catch-all website at y2hecate.com! My name is Nicholle; Nikki for short. You’ll find me all over the place online as Y2Hecate. I’m a part-time freelance artist in the US. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, but pursuing art more seriously since c. 1998. I am heavily inspired by Disney animation, especially the 1994 cartoon Gargoyles. I graduated from ETSU with honors in 2008, earning a BFA in Studio Art, with a concentration in Sequential Art (Comics & Animation). I also have a Minor in Japanese language.
For my full time day job, I’m a Purchasing Assistant/Engraving Associate at an awards and recognitions company. I play with laser and diamond drag engraving machines to engrave trophies, plaques, and medals. The company has been in business over 100 years, and creates all kinds of awards for academics, sports, government, personal fun, parties, and so on. We have customers all over the world, and supply a lot of smaller local trophy shops as well.
I like to play PC and mobile video games casually, and I’d love to have the time to get back into streaming on Twitch and elsewhere for both games and art. Feel free to look me up on Steam or elsewhere!
I enjoy coding and web design, though I’ve not yet had reason to study too far beyond HTML, CSS, and some basic Javascript. Years of experience poking around in WordPress and phpBB. Nothing too fancy, but I built my website, y2hecate.com, originally from scratch in Notepad way back in the late 90s on ye olde Geocities, now utilizing WordPress.
Obviously, I love arts and crafts. My primary media for Illustration is Ink and Markers or Digital Art, but I also paint (mostly acrylic, but working on my watercolor technique). I’ve done sculpting, carving, jewelry/metalsmithing, beading, and sewing for repairs or simple costumes. I’ve taught myself how to quilt and crochet – working on knitting. Also am dabbling with resin and vinyl cutting to make tumblers and other items. Would really love to get into 3D sculpting and printing, to add to my long list of hobbies.
Many people know me by my maiden name, Nicholle Owens, but as of October 16th, 2022, I’m a Russell! My husband Brad is into gaming and other nerdery as well. You can find him online as BracaBrad.
